Chaga Chai Tea - Healing Immunity Booster

10/25/2017 0 Comments

The scent of this tea fills your home with a heavenly spiced aroma with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and more wafting in the air. Take a big deep breath over the hot steam and soak it all in. This tea is made from all natural herbs and spices, Gerald often jokes that it looks like a witches brew so it is fitting for this season. No? No toil, just toss some herbs and spices in a pot once the water is boiling and allow it to simmer for 30 minutes creating an intoxicating smell and most of all, flavor. We love to have ours with some dairy free milk and when we splurge a little drizzle of syrup for a sweet cup of tea. This is our favorite chai tea that we've been drinking nearly every single night for months now. Come and get your cup, I promise you won't regret it.

Cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, star of anise, whole cloves, peppercorn with optional chaga and stevia create a one of a kind super-infused tea with magical healing powers. Let the aroma take you away to India for a few moments. The entire process from start to finish feels sacred as you pick out your herbs, count them, add them to your boiling water and watch it transform from water to an intoxicating tea. Then ladle it into your cup and watch the dairy free milk infuse with the tea as you hold your warm cup in your hands, sip and are pleased with your effort.

Truly heaven in a cup, comforting, pleasurable and delicious. Chai Tea is popular in India so I incorporated an Indian vibe in the 2 minute how-to video, this blend was inspired with YogawithAdriene whom I adore. Her mantra is "find what feels good" which resonates with me, you too? Well this tea feels good and I'm so happy I found it that I had to share it with you.

Gift Idea: Pick out the herbs, put them in a satchet with some fresh ginger and place it in a coffee cup and give it as a gift with instructions. You could also pre-make the tea and place it in a jar, the gift will be so memorable, it's truly the best cup of tea.

With all these good things, it's easy to forget that it gets even better. The healing properties in this tea are beyond normal, they're extraordinary, with each ingredient being extremely healing, we'll only zero in on the chaga mushroom today so I don't overwhelm you. My nerdy side comes out during this process.

Healing Ingredients:
6-7 Slices of Fresh Ginger (unpeeled) or 1 Tbsp. Ground Ginger
3-4 Cinnamon Sticks
20 Whole Cloves
20 Whole Peppercorns
Fresh Nutmeg - Grated
1 Tbsp Dry Stevia Leaves (Opt)
20 Cardamom Pods (crushed like garlic)
3-4 Star of Anise
1-2 tsp Chaga Mushroom Powder

Peaceful Preparation - Om, Shanti, Shanti:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. (Mine holds a little over 2 liters)
Once boiling, add all of the ingredients. Reduce heat to low.
Simmer covered for 30 minutes. (may take it longer)
Strain and ladle into cups.
Opt to add dairy free milk and a drizzle of sweetener.

Tips:
  • For a boost add black tea leaves for added caffeine. We often drink these before bed so use the chaga mushroom powder instead.
  • I found my spices and herbs at a health food store. You can buy online and have them delivered, or if you are near Indian markets or other health food stores try them out.
  • If you don't have all the ingredients don't shy away, even ginger and cinnamon with any of the others will be better than nothing in my opinion.  :)

Om, Shanti, Shanti
'Om Shanti' peace for all living and non living beans, human kind, the unverise and all things in the cosmic manifestation.
