Cheesy Dill Biscuits [Vegan, GF, Oil-Free]

Bring your meal to the next level with homemade biscuits. These biscuits are incredibly simple to make, they roll out easily, press into a circular shape with the lid of a mason jar and take less than 10 minutes to bake. We served ours with soup and loved them! Place them in a basket wrapped in a towel and serve warm, soft biscuits with your next meal. These would be great for the holidays and Thanksgiving coming up. Plus, they are vegan, gluten-free, oil-free and yeast-free for a completely plant-based whole-food recipe you can feel good about eating and sharing with others.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 Cups Gluten-Free All Purpose Flour 
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder 
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Dairy Free Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Dill
  • 2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup or your favorite
  • 1 tsp Vinegar (I used Apple Cider)
Opt to sprinkle with:
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • Salt
  • Chia Seeds
  • Dill 

Peaceful Preparation:
  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Mix the vinegar and dairy free milk together, set aside.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  4. Add the wet, including the dairy free milk mixture. Mix together and kneed 10 times. 
  5. Lightly flour a clean surface, flour the rolling pin and sprinkle a little flour on the dough. Roll out to 1/2" thick, cut with a cup or mason jar to create a circular shape. Sprinkle on the toppings or your favorite, gently press into the dough. Transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper.  
  6. Bake for 8 minutes (+/-) until golden and when you flick the backside it sounds hollow. They will be lightly golden and soft inside when they are ready. Enjoy! 

Notes:
  • You can skip the Nutritional Yeast for a non-cheesy version.
  • You can skip the Dill for a plain version or use your favorite herb. Feel free to add extra if using fresh herbs. Have fun! 
  • You can also brush with dairy free milk and then apply the toppings.

Hi. Is there anything I could use to replace the baking powder. Some health issues prevents me from using either baking soda or baking powder. Thanks

Hello, I think you could use yeast, I was avoiding yeast but they would be even better that way thought I've not tested it.

You could double the recipe - use 1 instant yeast packet, dissolve it in warm water and set aside for 5 minutes. Mix together the dry ingredients, add the wet. Roll out, cut into biscuit shapes and then let them rise for 1 1/2 hours and proceed to bake, or use the existing measurements and 1/2 pack of yeast. I hope that helps!
