How to Make Grilled Cabbage

Nothing says summer quite like the outdoor grill. Something about cooking your food on a grill on a hot summer day with a refreshing cold drink in your hand and cool watermelon is a sure recipe for a good time. Lately my mom and Dad have been coming over, we go to the market and then we grill! It is a great day and a good way to spend time with your friends and family. Plus, the food tastes so amazing! You can grill nearly any vegetables you desire. On this day we craved grilled cabbage so that's what we did. You can cook it as a cabbage steak or you can get the edges all crispy. However you desire! The flavor is so good, it's one of my favorite ways to eat cabbage. Enjoy!

Grilled Cabbage

Yield: 2 Cabbage "Steaks"
Author: Christa Clark
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 30 MinTotal time: 40 Min

Ingredients

Grilled Cabbage
  • 1 Large Head of Cabbage or 1/2 Head
  • Coconut Oil or Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Opt: Chimichurri Sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat the grill to medium high heat.
  2. Brush the cabbage on both sides with coconut oil or olive oil.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Adjust the seasoning as desired, we used chimichurri sauce and it was sensational!
  5. Grill outside for about 10-15 minutes on each side or as needed until it creates a caramelized color. When grilling no rush, enjoy the moment, let it take the time it takes, and enjoy fully!

Notes:

We've noticed the coconut oil works better here.

You can also wrap your cabbage in tin foil and add other things like onion and garlic.
